Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the official Iraqi Journal of Physics Article Template. Manuscripts that do not follow the journal template and formatting requirements may be returned to the corresponding author before editorial evaluation. 

Language

• Manuscripts must be written clearly and accurately in English.
• Each manuscript must include both English and Arabic abstracts.
• Each abstract should contain 150-250 words. 
• Arabic versions of the authors' names and affilations must be provided. 

File and Page Format

• Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
• Paper size: A4, Margins: 0.79 inches (2 cm) on all sides. Page layout: single column.
• Font: Times New Roman.
• Main text: 12-point font, justified, with single-line spacing, paragraph spacing: 1.0.

Title and Author Information

• The manuscript title must be concise, informative, centred, bold, and written in 14-point font.
• Authors' names must be centred, bold, and written in 12-point font.
• Affiliations must be written in 10-point italic font. 
• The full names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID identifiers of all authors must be provided.
• One author must be clearly identified as the corresponding author, with a complete postal address and email address. 

  Manuscript Structure

  Original research articles should normally include the following sections:

  1. Title
  2. Author names and affiliations
  3. Abstract
  4. Keywords
  5. Introduction
  6. Materials and Methods
  7. Results and Discussion
  8. Conclusion
  9. Acknowledgements, if applicable
  10. Funding Statement
  11. Authors’ Contributions

  15. Ethical Approval and Informed Consent Statements, where applicable
  16. References

Review articles may follow a structure appropriate to the subject but must include an abstract, keywords, introduction, clearly organized thematic sections, conclusion, and declaration. 

Main section headings must be numbered, bold, and written in 13-point font. Subsection headings must be numbered, bold, and written in 12-point font. The Abstract, Keywords, and References headings should not be numbered. 

Keywords

Authors must provide five specific keywords that accurately represent the manuscript's subject and principal materials. methods, or applications. Keywords should not merely repeat words already used in the manuscript title. 

Figures and Tables

• Figures and tables must be placed in the manuscript immediately after their first mention.
• They must be numbered consecutively in the order of appearance. 
• The full word "Figure" must be used in figure captions, while the abbreviation "Fig." may be used when referring to a figure within the text.
• Figure captions must be placed below the figures.
• Table titles must be placed above the tables.
• All figures must be clear, legible, and of sufficient resolution for publication.
• Every figure and table must be cited and discussed in the manuscript.
• Previously published materials must include proper attribution and evidence of permission when required. 

Numbers, Units, and Abbreviations

• Arabic numbers must be used throughout the manuscript (e.g., 1, 2, 3).
• Authors must use the International System of Units (SI).
• Abbreviations must be defined when first mentioned and used consistently throughout the manuscript. 
• Equations must be numbered consecutively and prepared using an editable equation format. 

References and Citations

Authors must ensure that all sources cited in the manuscript are relevant, reliable, and directly related to the study. References must be written in English and formatted according to the Iraqi Journal of Physics reference style. 

In-Text Citations

• References must be numbered consecutively according to their first appearance in the manuscript. 

• Citation numbers must be placed inside square brackets. 

• A single reference should be cited as [1].

• Separate non-consecutive references should be cited as [2, 5, 8].

• Consecutive references should be cited as a range, for example, [3-6].

• References cited in tables and figure captions must follow the same numerical sequence used in the main text. 

• The same reference number must be used whenever a source is cited again.

• Authors should avoid using "Ref.[3]" or "Reference [3]" unless the citation appears at the beginning of a sentence. 

Reference List Requirements

• The reference list must appear at the end of the manuscript.

• References must be listed numerically in the order in which they are first cited.

• Each reference listed must be cited in the manuscript, and every in-text citation must have a corresponding entry in the reference list.

• The manuscript should normally include at least 25 references.

• At least 50% of the references should have been published within the five years preceding the manuscript submission date.

• All references must be presented in English. For sources originally published in another language, an English translation of the title should be provided, followed by an indication of the original language where appropriate.

• The DOI must be provided as an active hyperlink whenever available, using the format https://doi.org/xxxxx.

• Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy and accessibility of all references.

• References should be written in 10-point Times New Roman font.

• Unpublished work and personal communications should not normally be included in the reference list. When essential, they may be mentioned in the text.

• Artificial intelligence tools, including generative AI systems, must not be listed as authors or treated as scholarly references.

Reference Formats

Journal article

Author initials and surnames, article title, abbreviated journal title, volume number, page range or article number, year, and DOI.

Example:

J. M. Jansen and R. Brown, Title of the article, Phys. Rev. B 26, 1–8 (2021). https://doi.org/xxxxx

Book

Author initials and surname, Book Title, edition, publisher, city and country, year.

Example:

M. Smith, Molecular Dynamics, 2nd ed., Academic Press, New York, USA (2020).

Book chapter

Author initials and surname, chapter title, in: Book Title, editor initials and surname (Ed.), publisher, city and country, page range, year.

Conference proceeding

Author initials and surname, paper title, in: Proceedings of the Conference Name, conference location, year, page range, and DOI when available.

Thesis or dissertation

Author initials and surname, Title of Thesis or Dissertation, degree type, university, country, year.

Website or online resource

Author or organization, title of the webpage or document, URL, publication or update date when available, and access date.
