The Iraqi Journal of Physics is an open-access scientific journal that publishes genuine papers in the physical sciences in both applied and theoretical fields. Due to its wide scope, the Journal may also accept papers in other relevant fields, such as chemistry, astronomy, remote sensing, and some specific science and engineering applications related to physics.

Being the first specialized Journal in physical science in the Republic of Iraq, the Iraqi Journal of Physics is significant among all other scientific journals published in this field of science. The significance of physics and science development in the academic society of Iraq revealed the Journal's primary function. Such development began decades ago, marking the Iraqi scientific society as being the most distinguished of its members' notable and extended efforts. The Iraqi Journal of Physics is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY) license. The University of Baghdad in Iraq started publishing it four times in 2017, after which it had previously been published three times. The Journal uses iThenticate to prevent plagiarism and ensure the originality of our submitted manuscripts. A double-masked peer-reviewing scheme is used to assure the quality of the publication.

We want to point out that the issuance of the Iraqi Journal of Physics volumes was suspended between 2003 and 2008 due to the political conditions in our country and the accompanying interruption of communication and Internet services.
